Wes Combs is the Founder and President of Combs Advisory Services where he serves as a Philanthropy Coach helping clients amplify their voice by creating a social impact vision aligned with personal values and interests for greater fulfillment in their lives.

Wes coaches individuals, families, and senior leaders as they establish, grow, or refine philanthropic endeavors in their quest to maximize the impact and joy from investments of time, expertise, and/or financial resources.

With over 30 years of experience supporting corporations, nonprofits, and individuals to be a force for positive change in their communities, Wes understands that achieving your social impact goals does not happen by chance, but instead by taking an intentional approach in the form of a Philanthropy Roadmap – a purposeful holistic social impact framework that guides charitable giving decisions which ultimately results in a lasting living legacy.

Prior to founding Combs Advisory Services, Wes was North American Diversity & Inclusion Director at The Boston Consulting Group overseeing the development and execution of programs across a range of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. Prior to BCG, Wes was a Senior Manager at Accenture Ltd. where he led the firm’s global DEI consulting practice.

Wes can trace his DEI roots back to 1993 when he and Bob Witeck co-founded the nationally recognized communications and marketing firm Witeck-Combs Communications, Inc. serving as strategic advisors to Fortune 100 companies and nonprofits on a broad range of issues related to DEI efforts.

Wes and Bob chronicled their award-winning work harnessing the corporate social responsibility influence of brands like Ford Motor Company, American Airlines and Marriott in the book Business Inside Out: Capturing Millions of Brand Loyal Gay Consumers (Kaplan Publishing) in 2006. Wes and Bob Wes witnessed firsthand that achieving sustainable impact is not accidental but rather requires an intentional approach guided by these three principles:

• Authenticity – Making philanthropic decisions aligned with values and beliefs.
• Transparency – Clearly communicating what impact means when engaging with a nonprofit partner.
• Accountability – Defining stakeholder roles and responsibilities aligned with measures of success.

Giving back to the community has always been a priority for Wes throughout his career and in his personal life. Currently, Wes is Board President of CAMP Rehoboth, Delaware’s largest LGBTQ+ community center as well as a member of WAMU’s Board of Advisors, Washington, DC’s NPR station. He is a former member of the Posse Foundation’s Board of Advisors, and the Human Rights Campaign’s Board of Governors. Wes proudly served on the Grant Review Committee for the Greater Washington Community Foundation and the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.

Wes earned his Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration from Georgetown University. He also has been designated a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) by the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI).
