Many people care deeply about giving and making a difference. They support causes they believe in, volunteer their time, mentor others, serve on boards, and step up when their communities need help. Yet despite these generous efforts, many never think of themselves as philanthropists. The word often feels reserved for billionaires, private foundations, or headline-making gifts.
Anyone who consistently gives time, resources, expertise, or compassion to improve their community is practicing philanthropy.
As more individuals and families become intentional about the impact they want to have, many are looking for guidance. They want their generosity to feel meaningful, focused, and aligned with their values. They want confidence that the time, money, and energy they invest are creating real and lasting impact.
That is where Combs Advisory Services comes in.
I help individuals and families develop thoughtful, strategic approaches to giving back. Instead of reacting to every request or feeling pulled in too many directions, clients gain clarity around what matters most to them and how they can make the greatest difference in ways that are both impactful and sustainable.
Whether your goal is to support the common good by investing in education, strengthening local communities, building a family legacy, or becoming more engaged in causes you care about, Combs Advisory Services can help you create a giving strategy that reflects your values and priorities.
Everyday generosity should feel purposeful, energizing, and deeply personal.
My Story and the Difference Giving Can Make
One of the most common challenges charitable givers face is knowing where to focus their time, energy, and resources. Every cause can feel important, and every request can feel personal. Over time, that can lead to over-commitment, frustration, or the feeling that giving has become an obligation instead of a source of fulfillment.
For years, my husband and I experienced this ourselves. We cared deeply about our community and said yes to many opportunities to volunteer, donate, and serve. Some experiences were incredibly rewarding. Others left us stretched thin and uncertain whether we were making the impact we hoped for.
Everything changed when we stepped back and became more intentional about our giving.
We gained clarity around the causes that mattered most to us, how we wanted to engage, and where we could make the greatest difference. That shift transformed not only our impact, but also the joy and purpose we found in giving back.
Today, I help others do the same.
Intentional giving is not about saying yes to everything—it is about saying yes to the right things. When generosity is aligned with your values, goals, and capacity, it becomes more meaningful, sustainable, and rewarding.
If you are thinking more intentionally about your own giving, here are a few questions worth considering:
- What kind of impact would feel most meaningful to you?
- Which issues or communities matter most to you and why?
- How do you want to contribute—through your time, expertise, financial support, or leadership?
- Which organizations best align with your values and long-term goals?
Anyone can make a meaningful difference. Thoughtful giving is not defined by wealth, but by purpose, intention, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of others. Contact me if you’d like to talk more.
